Teleconsultation

Speak to a Care and Cure doctor by video or phone, with prescriptions issued digitally and dispensed at Lifeguard Pharmacy or delivered to you.

What is this service

Teleconsultation is a full consultation with one of our doctors, conducted by video or phone. It is not a triage line or a chatbot — you are speaking to a licensed physician who can diagnose, prescribe and refer.

It works well for a larger share of problems than most people expect. Repeat prescriptions, reviewing test results, skin complaints that can be shown on camera, follow-up after a clinic visit, and the very common question of whether a symptom needs to be seen at all — all of these are handled comfortably remotely. It is particularly useful in summer, when a car journey is its own deterrent, and for parents who would rather not bring a sick child into a waiting room.

There are things it cannot do. Anything requiring physical examination, a scan or a blood test needs an in-person visit, and anything urgent needs an emergency department. Our doctors will tell you which category you are in early in the call rather than at the end of it, and a teleconsultation that concludes you need to come in has still done its job.

Procedure and process overview

  1. Book. Choose a slot through our online booking platform. Same-day appointments are usually available.

  2. Prepare. Have your Emirates ID, insurance card and a list of current medications ready. If it is a skin problem, take a clear photo in good light beforehand.

  3. The consultation. Your doctor joins by video or phone, takes a history and asks about your symptoms exactly as they would in clinic.

  4. Diagnosis and plan. You are told what your doctor thinks is going on and what to do about it — including, where relevant, that you need to be seen in person.

  5. Prescription. Prescriptions are issued digitally and can be dispensed at Lifeguard Pharmacy or delivered to you.

  6. Tests, if needed. Laboratory tests can be requested and either done at a clinic or collected at your home.

  7. Follow-up. A review can be scheduled by teleconsultation or in person, and your consultation is recorded in the same medical record as your clinic visits.

Related Doctors — card specification

The same card component serves all eight sub-pages. I have not populated any doctor details, as these must come from your licensing and HR records rather than from copy.

Fields per card

  • Photograph — consistent framing and background across all doctors

  • Full name

  • Designation, exactly as it appears on the practitioner's licence — General Practitioner, Specialist or Consultant

  • Specialty

  • Languages spoken

  • Branch or branches where they practise

  • Professional licence number

  • Years of experience, optional

  • Book button, linked to that doctor where the booking platform allows

Two points worth flagging

Designation must match the licence. A practitioner licensed as a General Practitioner cannot be presented on the website as a Specialist, and a mismatch between website copy and licence category is the kind of finding that surfaces at inspection. Worth a check against licensing records before this page publishes.

Languages spoken is the highest-value field on the card. In a patient population as varied as ours, it influences booking decisions more than years of experience does — and it is the field most often left off. It should be shown on the card, not buried in a profile page.
