What is this service

Our dental service covers routine and restorative treatment for the whole family, with an emphasis on catching problems while they are still small. The economics of dentistry reward prevention more clearly than almost any other area of healthcare: a cavity found at a six-monthly check-up is a filling, while the same cavity found when it starts hurting is often a root canal and a crown.

We see a lot of patients who have not seen a dentist since arriving in the UAE, sometimes for years, usually because nothing hurt. Whatever the state of things, the first appointment is an assessment and a plan — not a lecture.

Procedure and process overview

1. Examination. A full check of teeth, gums and soft tissues, with dental X-rays where needed to see what is happening below the surface.

2. Treatment plan and costs. You receive a written plan setting out what is recommended, in what order, and what each stage costs. Insurance eligibility is confirmed before treatment starts.

3. Urgent treatment first. Pain and active infection are dealt with before anything elective.

4. Planned treatment. Remaining work is scheduled across as few appointments as is clinically sensible.

5. Aftercare. You are given specific instructions after each procedure, and told what to do if there is a problem outside opening hours.

6. Recall. A six-monthly check-up and scaling appointment keeps small problems small.
